公共教学楼南向设计为简洁、完整的建筑界面。面向60m宽的广场，是校园南北大学轴的延续及収塑。并与图书馆及专教楼围合形成完整的中央广场。
The design of the south of public teaching complex is brief and integral. Faced to square with 60 width, it is the continuation and development of axis for north and south campus, forming a complete center square with library and expert teaching buildings together.
北侧创造链接教学区、生活区的“学生轴”，利用非正式的空间，激发有活力的学生活动场所。
Students axis is created on the north to connect teaching area and living area. Informal space is being used to activate an energetic student activity place.
从校园整体规划设计角度出发，研究地脉环境和文脉特征，以确定新建筑所应具有的时空形态。
Starting from campus overall planning and design, researching its geographic positions and characteristics are to make sure the space characteristics of the new building.
教学楼空间类型基于校园空间中“合院”，传承中国“书院”精神结构，借鉴欧美经典校园“四方院”，以“东北宽院”为原型，组织两组“乚型”教室组团，构成西北端“高大”阶梯教室单元；东南“低小”的单、双班教室单元，并在两组单元联系“节点”处，衍生出“向阳生发”出主入口空间。
The space genre of the teaching building is based on the integral yard of the campus space, inheriting the spirit structure of Chinese study room, referencing the square yard from Europe classical campus, originating from Dongbei wide yard, organizing two sets of L-shaped teaching rooms, forming big and huge ladder classroom at northwest, low and small single and double classroom at southeast. And at the juncture of these two units derivatives exist space faced to sun.
建筑形态是内在空间的呈现，教学功能空间的组织，在传统矩形阶梯教室的基础上变革为类八边形空间，以获得理想视、听效果，并由内而外形成自相似的“空间模件”组合，构成一组跌宕起伏“白山黑水”般、“造物山水”的画卷。
Construction space is the representation of internal space. The organization of teaching function space is a octagonal space transformed from ladder classroom, to form a combination of similar space model from in to out and form a drawing of mountains and water.
“回”形建筑以嵌入式的外部空间亲和于校园，构成一个静谧的“人文书院”。布局中北侧西侧为阶梯教室，东侧南侧为小班教室。 “书院”作为轴线尽端的节点，是一个“空”的中心，正是由于教学空间之间的“空”所具有“弹性”和“聚合力”使得它成为区别于内与外的精神场所。作为建筑的核心“内院空间”不仅要体现出对知识的神往；更多阐释了人与自然的共生理念；自然作为能量源给予内院空间风、光、热的同时也铸就一个可以释放出自然狂野能量的建筑；
建筑材料及色调与校园趋同，对外保持校园沿街的统一性；均质化的竖向开窗和暖色的红砖温和儒雅隐约显现着精典校园气质。对外简约卓尔不凡，对内谦和包容。建筑形态在延续校园空间结构中，吸取了校园中原有的斜线肌理并建构了一个新的秩序化形态；通过对自然律动的表达，借用分形几何学的手法创造出一种独特的多边形建筑体量,重铸了东北大学一种坚实、自强，有序、进取的品格。
The "Hui" shaped building, with its embedded external space, is close to the campus and forms a quiet "humanities academy". In the layout, the west side of the north side is the step classroom, and the south side of the east side is the small class classroom. As the node at the end of the axis, "academy" is the center of "emptiness". It is precisely because of the "elasticity" and "cohesion" of "emptiness" between teaching spaces that it becomes a spiritual place different from inside and outside. As the core of architecture, "inner courtyard space" not only embodies the yearning for knowledge, but also explains the concept of symbiosis between human and nature. As the energy source, nature gives the inner courtyard space wind, light and heat, and at the same time, it also casts a building that can release the wild energy of nature.
The building materials and colors are similar to the campus, and the uniformity of the campus along the street is maintained; the homogenized vertical windows and warm red bricks are gentle and elegant, which shows the classic campus temperament. External simplicity is extraordinary, and internal modesty and tolerance. In the continuation of the campus space structure, the architectural form absorbs the original oblique texture of the campus and constructs a new ordered form; through the expression of natural rhythm, the fractal geometry is used to create a unique polygonal architectural volume, which recasts a solid, self-improvement, orderly and enterprising character of Northeastern University.
